Well,
as a Seasoned Veteran, I think it is a bit minimalistic for full time travel.... That is not why I pushed for the design.

My design was to give People another option, that thought they wanted a Pop-top.. This really has better insulation, cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, no weight restrictions on the roof, way more storage with all the overheads, and it is stronger with less maintenance in canvas and seals and lifters.. Hmmm

Unfortunately people have been convinced that a Pop-top is the way to go? In reality there are more disadvantages than advantages. They think it would be better to tow? (Wrong).. They think it would be better on fuel economy (wrong, in fact much the same due to the aerodynamic rake of the full height van over the top of the tow vehicle). They think the Pop-top might be cheaper? (Wrong, here we can build a better van, full height, for about the same money.)

All in all I wanted another option, and I think People sitting in the two of them, 9 out of 10 would opt for this full height Bushtracker for nearly the same money..

Kind regards, Steven Gibbs, Director

This may be a silly question, I hope not.

Is it a single axle or dual axle van?

.

Tandem, four wheel brakes, of course.... A tandem not only has double the brakes, but spreads the load so it can travel a lot futher on soft ground, than a single....

Of course...! They are usually used as a shoe locker.. But if there wasn't, since we are full Custom Builders You could always design yours with the raised floor lockers. 😉

I will get you some, but:

It is at the Adelaide Show right now.

We were in such a scramble, I did not even get the interior pictures before it left for the Melbourne and Adelaide Shows..

Is it possible to fit an outdoor kitchen to this van? Something like the sink bbq and small fridge I have seen on this webpage?

Hello ficmcd,

Yes you certainly can install an external kitchen to this van. They are a simple bolt-in arrangement. We have several options available to suit your requirements. A fairly popular one is as follows which has a small sink with hot & cold water, an Aussie Sizzler BBQ (which can BBQ, roast or be used as a stove) and a slide out 30L fridge with bench space above:

Slide out 30L fridge (still accessible when kitchen is retracted)

Full slide out kitchen with 30L fridge / Aussie sizzler BBQ & stove / stainless sink

Aussie sizzler BBQ & stove (under plate)

I hope that helps.

Cheers,

Matt

NSW Caravan, Camping & Holiday Supershow announcement

To all of our valued customers, current, past and future.

Unfortunately for the first time in 17 years, Bushtracker will not be exhibiting at the NSW Caravan, Camping & Holiday Supershow in Sydney (Rosehill Racecourse).

The NSW department of Fair Trading has introduced legislation that makes it almost impossible for factory direct custom manufacturers from interstate to exhibit in NSW. We are required to hold a dealer’s licence (which we were happy to do, and began the application process), however we were unsuccessful due to not having a ‘Council approved place of business’ in NSW. Being located in QLD, and factory direct, this is a little tricky for us.

We tried everything in our power to overcome this, even several letters to the Commissioner of Fair Trading in NSW himself. Unfortunately they were not interested in our case and have shut us down. We will do everything we can to try and exhibit again next year, but have missed the allocation for this year’s show.

We wish you all the best, we are not the only QLD Company affected by this so if you feel it is unfair, be sure to voice your opinion to the Caravan & Camping Industry Association of NSW, perhaps your local member of government or the office of Fair Trading, to see if we can have this legislation amended.

We look forward to seeing you again at the Queensland Caravan Show in June.

Kind regards from the Bushtracker team.

To the Bushtracker Team,

Thank you for the information regarding your non attendance at Sydney this year and the reasons why. As NSW residents my wife and I are extremely disappointed that you and some other Queensland manufactures have been denied the right to exhibit, we have always attended (and spent our dollars )at the Sydney show ,but will not do so this year, instead we will travel to Queensland for the show in June to see you and spend our money in your state on accommodation, fuel etc. Surely this decision by NSW Fair Trading is bureaucracy gone mad, are we not encouraged to buy Australian made?, or has it changed to buy made in NSW only? Will NSW manufactures ( if any) be shut out of the Queensland show? the whole issue is bizarre to say the least.
Look forward to seeing the Team and Bushtrackers in June

BTW will be putting a complaint to NSW Fair Trading

WOW!

I wish there were more sensible People like you!!! The World would be a better place, and Politics less corrupt and more "for the Good of the People" the way it should be!

GraGor, I am greatly impressed, You are my kind of People. And I am feeling generous.... For your initiative, for your candor, if you buy a Bushtracker please allow me to give you a discount to help to offset your travel costs and accommodation.

Happy Easter GraGor, and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!

Hi Folks,
below is the computer generated reply I received on 15 March from NSW Fair Trading enquiry that I submitted early March 2015 when I first became aware of this somewhat strange situation -

Your NSW Fair Trading file number is 7xxxxxx. Please quote this file number when dealing with us regarding this enquiry.

Business/Trader identified:

Details of Enquiry: I understand that the NSW department of Fair Trading has introduced legislation that makes it almost impossible for factory direct custom manufacturers from interstate to exhibit in the annual NSW Caravan, Camping and Holiday Supershow in Sydney without an approved place of business in NSW. Several interstate caravan manufacturers who sell direct to the NSW public and who have been exhibiting at the show for upwards of 20 years are now denied participation in the show - what is going on? Can you please advise me the reason that "Fair Trading" have taken this course of action. Will other states reciprocate?

NSW Fair Trading aims to respond to most enquiries within 7 days. However, if the enquiry is complex, this time may vary.

Please do not reply to this automated message.

Regards,
NSW Fair Trading
Ph: 13 32 20

NO FURTHER CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED - obviously complex!

CHEERS

In my book this is blatant discrimination Evil or Very Mad

Wonder if W.A. is similarly anti-competitive?

Perhaps time to explore putting Perth on the agenda?

We didn't bother going to the show here this year, fairly predictable...

We still know what we want, others here in WA could do with some educating perhaps?

I think you will find that WA is much the same.
BT was thinking of coming in the past but didnt pass a similar test.
Makes you wonder what the reasoning is some times.
