Hi there, is it possible if doing upgrades to fit black out blinds/mozzie screens in place of curtains on an older van, are the windows different in design?
Your thoughts.
Regards Gareth.

Different windows.... If you are talking about the grey framed single glazed Galaxy windows.. The rubber border presses into an extrusion in the frame.....

Those older windows are also a maintenance battle to keep them from leaking. The parts come from Camec, but I do not think anything other than the stock screens are available. THEY may not even be available anymore, you will have to check with Camec... Anyway the border is a hard rubber sort of welded onto the screen, manufactured that way. I do not know of any after market ones available for those type of grey framed windows..

The newer Bushtrackers are a whole new dimension of technology and equipment, power and innovation... People bring us older vans for renovations and upgrades in the $10,000 to $30,000 range. New windows, new hatches, new batteries and charging systems, new chargers, regulators, new refrigeration, new suspensions, new air conditioning, new forced air diesel heaters, and a lot more..

We build them too good, they last too long, and progress marches on with new gear and technology. That is the main reason to date, 151 have come back for second new Bushtrackers...

Kind regards, Steven Gibbs..

Is it possible to fit the new style windows into an older van? Had been speaking with Stuart about some upgrades to our 2004 19ft Family van and would love to replace windows as well if this is possible and feasible (the upgrade requires re-cladding of one side of the van).

Hello Jusel,

Steven Gibbs here, the Mad Scientist at Bushtracker.. Laughing Laughing

Look, anything like this is possible, but it can be just too expensive to be considered as cost effective, OK? The windows are not the same size, so it would be a MAJOR task, removing the cladding and modifying the frame and paneling on the inside to match. It is physically possible, but totally not practical.

Some People are so in love with their older Bushtrackers, they have come in for major upgrades on equipment. A $10,000 upgrade with Lithium, chargers, solar regulators, sometimes more solar, these kinds of lifestyle upgrades are common. Some come in and go more towards a $20,000 upgrade with all of the above plus new refrigeration and cabinetry, air conditioning, sometimes diesel heaters, power awnings, and other equipment and minor renovations.

The record is all of that above plus renovations on the layout and more, even full ensuites and other major renovations. Some People are so in love with their older Bushtracker, they have run the upgrades up to $30,000. However, to be fair in your case all new style windows is just not cost effective, and this would just be over the top.

It is possible, but not cost effective IMO.. Sorry..

Kind regards, Stg
