Hello Friends,
This is just a sample of why you will find in the R&D Section. When you Order we admit you the Owners Section, and you have a couple of months to get caught up on what is coming up. You are not cast in stone for the first couple of months and are free to modify your Order as you "get all the cards of the deck" so to speak.. We Coach you, and this is just an example of the kinds of things we are testing OK?

Look, being Semi-Retired now, means I have more time to push the boundaries on things, pushing the envelope so to speak, and here is one we have finally decided to try out.. It is the same Load Sharing design as our Standard Suspension, but with a coil and shock and still Load Sharing...

Anyone that tells you that Load Sharing is not good, does not know what they are talking about and you should walk out on them immediately. Almost all the general Caravan Manufacturers use the same basic trailing arm coil and shock suspension. They do not have the 4140 Tool Steel Axles we offer, and they do not have the Load Sharing. Look, Load Sharing has huge advantages, that is why it is in most of the Transport systems from rail suspensions to trucks and trailers almost ALL are Load Sharing. I mean the obvious is that when the leading arm hits an obstacle it shift a lot of the load onto the rear load sharing arm, and then when the rear load sharing arm hits the obstacle it shift much of the load back on the front suspension. It articulates over the obstacle rather than shocking the van twice with front and rear suspension that is not load sharing. What is not so obvious, is the extreme wheel travel you can get!! Check this out!!



Now this has the same 4140 Tool Steel axles that all the other suspensions have a Bushtracker that are built for us, and this load sharing is important. If you look at the common trailing arm coil and shock suspension most of the other Manufacturers use, when off road, you can see pictures of them lifting the rear suspension clear off the ground as they do not have much wheel travel. This is puts a huge load on the front suspension arm, and is not a good thing.. Wink

Now why should we bother doing this? Well it is possibly a little softer ride than our standard Load Sharing suspension. I am not sure it is worth the bother, because you have the added maintenance of shocks (inside the coils if you look closely). Anyway, we are going to try it out in REAL TIME R&D. Matthew is going to put it under his new Family Show Van, and use it in the Shows and Family trips into the Outback on a 24' Family Van.. That will give it a fair test..

It has a cross over to shift the load back and forth, front to back then back to front, but it has some minor problems. For one, it is going to interfere a bit with the structure, we have some issues to overcome, but maybe it will be a choice. Give me a year to test it on a couple of our Bushtrackers, then ask about it.. Smile



Why do we bother? Well it gives the softer feel of the trailing arm coil and shock suspension. Mind you our Trailing Arm Coil and Shock suspension is stronger than any others, with the 4140 Tool Steel Axles, but all the trailing arm suspensions have a limited wheel travel. I mean maybe not even HALF of this..



And the others are not Load Sharing, and they are not built with the 4140 Tool Steel axles. But this is even better Load Sharing and with the massive wheel travel... Wink

Steve are you designing it to be retro fitted to other BT's that may want to update they suspension?
